SHOULDER

As shoulder width is measured along the upper portion of the back, you will need the help of another person to measure this.

With the back straight, measure from tip of one shoulder to the tip of the other shoulder.

ARM HOLE

To measure the armhole, have the person raise their arm slightly and loop the measuring tape from the top of the shoulder down under the armpit and back up to the starting point. Make sure the tape is snug but not tight, allowing for comfortable movement.

UPPER BUST

Measure the upper bust by wrapping the tape measure around the body, under the armpits and above the bust, where the bust meets the arms. Ensure the tape is parallel to the floor and snug against the body without compressing the skin.

BUST

With the back straight, measure around the fullest part of the bust (Over nipples), keep tape parallel to the floor.

NECK DEPTH

For the neck depth, measure from the base of the neck (where the neck meets the body) down to the desired depth of the neckline. This can vary depending on the design of the garment.

BACK DEPTH

To determine the back depth, measure from the base of the neck at the back down to where you want the back of the garment to end. This is often needed for items with a lower cut in the back.

DART POINT

This could be referring to the Dart Point, which is typically related to bust shaping. Measure from the side seam of the garment to the point where the dart meets the bust line to determine where the bust point should be.

BLOUSE LENGTH

The blouse length is measured from the highest point on the shoulder, near the neck, straight down to the point where you want the blouse hem to end.

SLEEVE LENGTH

To measure sleeve length for a blouse, start at the top edge of the shoulder – right where the shoulder seam of a well-fitting shirt would be – and measure down to the desired length of the sleeve, which could be just above the elbow, at the elbow, or at the wrist, depending on the style of the blouse

SLEEVE ROUNDING

This is also referred to as the 'sleeve opening' or 'cuff circumference'. For a blouse, measure around the arm at the point where the sleeve will end. This could be just above the elbow for a short sleeve, at the forearm for a three-quarter sleeve, or at the wrist for a full-length sleeve. Ensure that the tape measure is neither too tight nor too loose for comfortable movement.

BLOUSE WAIST

For the blouse waist, measure around the body at the natural waistline or where the blouse will be cinched or end.

PANT WAIST

The pant waist is measured at the point where the pants will sit on the body. This could be at the natural waist, below the navel, or wherever the waistband of the pants is intended to sit.

HIP

Stand straight with feet together, measure around the fullest part of the buttocks or the widest part of the hip, keep tape parallel to the floor.

SLEEVE LENGTH

For a kurta or dress, measure from the shoulder edge down to where you want the end of the sleeve. This could be a short sleeve, three-quarter length, or a full sleeve that extends to the wrist or even beyond.

SLEEVE ROUNDING

For the kurta or dress sleeve rounding, measure around the fullest part of the bicep or the specific part of the arm where the sleeve will end. For kurtas or dresses with a fitted sleeve, make sure the tape is snug but not tight to allow for ease of movement.

FULL LENGTH

This is the overall length of the garment from the highest shoulder point down to the hem or the desired end point on the leg.

KURTA LENGTH

Similar to the blouse length, the kurta length is measured from the high point of the shoulder down to where the kurta will end, typically somewhere above, at, or below the knee.

PANT LENGTH

Measure from the waist down to where the pant leg will end at the ankle or as per the style required.

UPPER THIGHS

Stand straight. Wrap the tape around the thigh and measure the circumference of the fullest part of the thigh.
